The ‘Vitamin Sea’ ethos not only focuses on the wellbeing of the ocean but also that of its sailors. With a selection of onboard programmes, including sunrise and sunset yoga sessions, you’ll find more than enough things to help you detox (and retox). Booking any suite unlocks access to Richard's Rooftop; an exclusive sun deck where elegance meets exuberance.

Barbados holidays

Silversea has ten ships (and two more on the way), four of which are luxury expedition class ships. While children are allowed onboard, most cruises outside of summer season in popular regions (like the Caribbean and Europe) set sail almost child-free. Viking Ocean cruise ships are all identical, each carrying 930 adult passengers; all cabins offer private balconies. Viking Expedition ships carry 378 adult passengers, and its river ships across the globe all carry fewer than 200 passengers. An adults-only, all-inclusive cruise is the holy grail for travelers seeking a child-free, hassle-free vacation. Viking Ocean cruises, Virgin Voyages and Saga Cruises are your best bets for kid-less bliss and free-flowing cocktails.

Virgin Voyages says no kids on the ocean. And the kids aren’t pleased.

A sea change for all

As soon as I stepped into the 225-square-foot room, I was blown away by how spacious it felt. Modern furniture matched the design style of the communal decks, and the cabin was full of space-saving hacks. The 912-foot-long ship was stacked with 17 decks full of staterooms, venues, restaurants, and activities. It was my second-ever cruise, following a seven-day voyage aboard Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas. Your holiday is protected - many of the flights and flight-inclusive holidays on this website are financially protected by the ATOL scheme.

Virgin Voyages redefines the cruising experience, offering an array of activities, dining options, and shore excursions specifically designed with the adult traveler in mind. From the tranquility of a kid-free pool deck to the vibrancy of live entertainment that captivates and delights, every moment aboard is a testament to the joys of adult freedom. Whether you’re indulging in the unique flavors offered at specialty restaurants, like Korean BBQ or enjoying the subtle luxury of a quiet coffee with ocean views, Virgin Voyages ensures that your journey is as delicious as it is memorable. Embark on an unforgettable adult-only journey aboard the Scarlet Lady, departing from Cozumel, Marina di Carrara, and Singapore.

We tried a similar excursion in Barbados but were disappointed when the catamaran took us in view of the ship, deposited us on a crowded beach, and then sailed us back after a quick swim, claiming the waves were too rough. We later discovered others who took the same excursion and sailed further afield through the same company. We didn’t feel like we had to dress to the nines or that meals were completely over the top when dining every evening. From crispy artichokes with caper aioli and charred lemon aperitivo to the secondo porcini-rubbed New York Strip with Calabrian chili butter, farro and sauteed escarole, we raved about every bite. We weren’t the only ones who loved this spot; every passenger we spoke to said it was their favorite, and we failed to secure a second reservation due to its popularity. The ship’s food court-styled dining, found on Deck 15, was nothing like a traditional food court.

Imagine spending two weeks with your partner on the Mekong River, on a posh yet understated Emerald river cruise ship that can put you two at the doorstep of many wondrous cities, towns and villages of Cambodia and Vietnam. Kids aren’t welcome on Emerald, and this makes sense, because there’s likely nothing about this luxurious cruise that they’d enjoy. There are no water slides, no kids club and no video game consoles, just rich history, fascinating local culture and fine food and wine on board and to explore on land through curated—and complimentary—shore excursions led by passionate locals. If you love nature and photography, an adult-only cruise to Antarctica with Aurora Expeditions is the perfect once-in-a-lifetime, child-free vacation at sea. Aurora Expeditions allow photographers and videographers of any skill level to learn through lectures and presentations, expert tips and tricks, and hands-on guidance on board the ships. If you can’t get away for a long trip to remote parts of the world, consider one of these mini-vacations instead.

Newly-built, state-of-the-art and eco-friendly cruise ships use cutting-edge technology so you can concentrate on leaving your footprints in the sand and not on the planet. Virgin Voyages have ditched buffets and pre-set dining times to bring Sailors made-to-order food and leisurely brunches from 20+ unique eateries. All the food is included - meaning no exclusive spots you have to pay to get into. From Korean BBQ, pizza shops, Mediterranean mezze and Mexican restaurants through to a legendary drag queen brunch, Virgin Voyages’ 24-hour food and beverage service is always made to order with a wide selection of restaurants and dining.

While I steered clear of the ship's indoor gym because I don't like working out on vacation, I enjoyed kicking and punching boxing bags. It was so unique to exercise I do at home that I forgot I was working out at all. On one of the ship's top decks, I found grown-up-sized swings and seesaws, a foosball table, a basketball court, and a giant chess set. Spending time in the outdoor space watching sunsets, spotting passing islands, and getting a preview of each port stop before disembarking made the room worth the price to me.

After focusing on cocktails and dating, do you miss the silly characters and kid-based extras? As reported by WanderWisdom and MSN, there for sure are tradeoffs, but it’s worth it to ride on an adults-only cruise. That’s according to Jack Nolan who posts on TikTok about working for Virgin Voyages, a 21+ cruise line.

Wine tastings and pairings were offered day and night on my Virgin cruise, and though I've seen these on other cruises, I thought they had a wide variety and good value in this case. I'm not usually one to stay out late at a club, but the atmosphere was so fun and different from what I've experienced on other cruises, I found myself dropping in for a few songs throughout my voyage. Most cruise lines I've sailed on have a variety of music venues, so it wasn't surprising to see them on Scarlet Lady. Not only did we have amazing views from our perch as we sailed by Richard Branson’s private Necker Island, but we caught Sir Richard aboard his catamaran, waving to the ship as it passed while his staff on the island lit a bonfire to guide our way. We were told he always greets his ships when he’s on the island, sometimes with fireworks.
